Hello,
I am trying to use CCU3 in the LAN without an internet access. I am using only a few features and a few devices and it seems to work fine like this as it is marketed, but if there is no internet access, the blue light blinks fast. As far as I understand (from the packet capture), connectivity check is a ping to google.com, and then it tries to access one or two IPs with http/https (I guess these are the server APIs). So my questions:
- As it seems to me working fine for my purpose, can I disable this flashing blue led indicating no connection ?
- Why is the device trying to access internet ? For update checks only ? Can I disable this or the need for internet in general ?
- Is it possible to disable or modify connectivity check by ping ? I may enable access to a few IPs (assuming they are the APIs) with http/https, but ping to google.com sounds unnecessary to me.
Thanks.
Mete

Re: the internet access need in ccu3, can it be disabled ?
Hi Mete,
I recently installed a CCU3 at a friend's house which had no internet access yet.
The CCU3 is working without internet beside the following effects:
- on first start, the CCU3 requests a mandatory firmware update (funny idea when you have no internet)
- the CCU3 wants to sync with a timeserver. you could set the real time clock manually in system settings > time / position
(maybe the timeserver can be disabled in this menu by clearing the "NTP server" entry - not tested.)
- occasionally, the CCU will try to check for updates
I can't answer the question if the flashing blue LED can be disabled.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the info. Your first point might be the reason maybe the problem I had with web ui after the firmware update.
NTP is not a problem for me, I have an NTP server in the LAN.
